Nesma, Vase of Sejnane

Introducing Nesma, Vase of Sejnane, an authentic and effortlessly chic and eco-friendly pottery made in northwestern Tunisia.  

Made of baked clay, the earthenware Nesma, Vase of Sejnane is entirely handmade by a group of woman potters in the northeast of Tunisia. They are following techniques passed down through several centuries from mothers to daughters using hand-shaping and open-air firing. This process make each piece, extra special as they use local clay, which they collect and prepare themselves, no potter's wheel and use natural pigment.

Nesma, Vase of Sejnane displayed warm colors: beige is achieved with the natural color of the clay before applying any pigment, red and terracotta resulting from the oxidation of the clay during firing.

Its cherubic face shape and natural hues, make it a warm addition to any living space.

Sejnania, the Group of Women Potters of Sejnane is an organization established by and with the women of Sejnane in 2012. The main goals of this group are to: Strengthen the economic empowerment of the women of Sejnène, Preserve and promote local heritage (Sejnène pottery), Contribute to the local development of the area for sustainable development.
